Why we created a natural perfume

An appreciation of nature and an uncomfortable feeling about mass produced, commercial beauty products got us thinking. What is really going in to all the mass marketed perfumes and lotions that are sold at high prices but don’t reveal the real ingredient list? How can a huge, global company really care about ingredients when its shareholders and profits that are prioritised.

We would find one great company that seemed to have great ethics, run by people who cared, only to find that it had actually been bought by a multinational that perhaps didn’t care as much about the environment or the chemicals included. We would research the ingredients and find out that petrochemical derived ingredients were added, not good for the environment or our skin. From candles to shower gel, we saw that there was a lot of hidden stuff going in to these seemingly ‘natural’ or ‘pure’ products.

And the word organic seems to be pretty loosely used. Integrity is something that is super important to us and it just feels like there isn’t much of it out there when it comes to big brands.

We questioned everything and became a little disillusioned!

We set about creating our own natural perfume

It took over two years! We wanted to find a perfumer who had the same ethos and integrity, who genuinely cared about what went into the perfume and where the ingredients came from. It wasn’t easy! After many conversations, we found the right one, based in Somerset, with a unit harvesting rain water for flower waters and growing their own flowers as much as possible.

People really get what we’re doing!

It’s been an honour to speak to so many people who have also been uncomfortable with how the beauty industry sells products. They really appreciate natural products that genuinely are natural! No synthetic chemicals that could harm the planet and us. It’s not been an easy journey, but speaking to you, who love our natural fragrance is an absolute privilege and makes it all worth it!
