We believe in working with our environment, not against it and soon we realised that if we wanted a clean, natural scent that ticked all the boxes, we’d have to create our own. One that is kind to people, animals and planet and that smells divine. No compromise.

Jones & Modha no 1 natural perfume does just that, bringing together the ancient traditions of natural plant alchemy and the sophisticated techniques of precision perfume blending. We’ve left out the synthetic ingredients and chemicals you can’t pronounce. We’ve omitted the extra plastic packaging and cellophane.

We love and celebrate that there is more awareness and a call for change to the beauty and perfume industries. More of us are searching for eco-harmony and integrity. We wanted a natural scent that is not tested on animals, and does not use any animal derived ingredients and so 100% vegan. We wanted to be transparent about ingredients (you’ll see a full list on our boxes and here) and keep nothing hidden.

Gender neutral
We never understood why it’s ok to tell us which perfume we should buy according to our gender. This will appeal to anyone that loves a beautiful and unique blend of essential oils, cares about sustainability and enjoys citrus fresh top notes settling into spice and green woodiness.

Friends
We are Catrin MacDonnell and Hemali Modha, two friends in Bristol with backgrounds in media, design, marketing, retail and business. We set up Jones & Modha to reflect our interest in natural and sustainable beauty. Jones is Catrin's mother's maiden name, representing her upbringing and roots in Wales and Modha is Hemali's Ugandan Indian family name. We wanted the brand to celebrate the melding of cultures, language and nationalities to bring about a richness and depth, just as different plant oils do when blended. We wanted to create a clean, green fragrance that celebrated nature and was truly aligned with the environment.
